We always go to the cabin for New Years. Said cabin is on Mt. Hood and belongs to our aunt. We usually go up the morning of New Years Eve with her family and stay through New Years Day. Part of this tradition includes eating breakfast at Huckleberry Inn, lunch/dinner at Zig Zag Inn, lunch/dinner at Calamity Jane's, playing Phase Ten, going sledding, staying up until midnight to pop the annoying popper things and make a general ruckus, and some other awesome stuff. :)
Going to the cabin is one of those traditions that we all complain about but end up enjoying. Mom tried to cancel it this year but I threw a fit because there is no way in heck I am coming home over 800 miles for an incomplete holiday. So we went! With some alterations. We went New Years Day instead of Eve because mom had to supervise the church dance that night. Felt the same going a day later anyway, haha.
We had a dandy old time! I loved not having my phone, ipod, or laptop and just hanging out with these people I call family. I thoroughly enjoyed sledding, as well. That is one thing I can boast to be fearless about. I run as fast as I can, throw myself onto that little disk like a madman, and fly off of crazy jumps on my knees at the speed of light, often crashing into banks of snow and doing cartwheels on my head {both have happened and don't feel particularly good}. This year I went down this one jump extra fast and crashed right into Kaila. It was hysterical. I also went down a hill that hadn't been touched yet and did a semi-backward somersault thing. That was pretty awesome. The bruises up and down my legs are testament to my love of intense sledding, lame as that may sound. ;) I also had a fun time playing Trivial Pursuit until midnight or so with my parents, Kaila, and aunt and uncle. Crazy people. In a good way. :)

It was all very nice and a good way to end my trip back home. :)
